Will I be seeing a registered psychologist?

Yes, our psychologists are fully-registered in the province of Nova Scotia, which means that we have passed all licensing requirements including written and oral licensing exams, and remain in good standing with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology.

Is a referral needed to make an appointment?

While a referral is not needed to make an appointment, referrals are welcomed from other professionals who might be involved in your care. However, you can also self-refer for services. Some Extended Health Benefit (insurance) plans do require that you have a written referral from your family doctor before they will cover psychological services. Please check with your individual plan about this.

 

How much will services cost?

The cost of services varies. For individual intervention services, the typical cost is $210 per hour, which is the recommended rate set by the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia (APNS). Please note that services delivered by psychologists are considered a tax-deductible medical expense.

 

Will services be covered by my Extended Health Benefit (insurance) plan?

While private psychological services are not covered through MSI, many Extended Health Benefit (insurance) plans do cover at least a portion of the fees for psychological services. It is worthwhile to check with your provider about your coverage options. A receipt will be provided to you upon payment for each service you receive through our practice, which you can then submit for reimbursement as appropriate.

How can payment be made?

We accept payment in the form of Debit/Interac, VISA, MasterCard, or cash. Psychological services are a health-related service, so we do not charge tax/HST.

Cancellation Policy

We reserve your appointment time exclusively for you. Therefore, we require appropriate notice for a cancelled appointment so that we have time to book in someone else if you are unable to make it at your scheduled time. One week notice is required for cancelling a Psychoeducational Assessment appointment. Cancelled appointments without 24 hour notice are subject to charge.
